Description:

The Corcoran Gallery of Art is both an art gallery and a college for aspiring visual artists and designers. The gallery was founded in the 19th century to house the impressive art collection of William Corcoran. It lies in the heart of Washington, D.C., a few blocks north of the Ellipse. The gallery boasts one of the best collections of 19th-century American artworks in the world. In 2007, the Corcoran will feature an exhibit of works inspired by Joan of Arc, and an exhibit of Modernist works from the early 20th century that will allegedly be the largest of its kind ever assembled in America.

Open Mon., Wed. and Fri. - Sun. 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Thurs. 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
