Established by Congress in 1927, the United States National Arboretum is a major botanical center with an azalea garden, an Asian plant collection, the National Herb Garden, and much more. The Arboretum sits on nearly 450 acres northeast of the Capitol complex in Washington, D.C. Visitors can also participate in events like the monthly seed exchange, the monthly Full Moon Hike and, every March, an orchid auction.
