The Pope John Paull II Cultural Center was established in 1988, when the Pope challenged the Catholic community of Washington, D.C. to build a faith-based cultural center. Located just past the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in the northeast sector of the city, the center offers a changing art museum with works from the Vatican, a research facility for Catholic scholars, and a chapel for worship and meditation. There's also a cafe at the Center, serving box lunches.
