Funded by the Armed Forces' Pathology Institute, the National Museum of Health and Medicine features over 25 million artifacts laid out in five different collections pertaining to the human body. Among the museum's many skeletons, organs, and medical equipment lies the pistol that assassinated Abraham Lincoln, and pieces of his hair and skull. It is located in northwest Washington about five miles north of the White House.
